IMPORTANT AP PSYCH CLASS INFO - Change in assignment...

Because of the Coronavirus there will be changes to the AP Exam.

**** Update as of 4/3/20
The AP Psych exam will be online on Tuesday May 19 at 1:00 PM. It will be one or two FRQ questions and will be open book/open notes. They key to success will be your ability to apply the concepts of the class to the question. You won't get points just by defining things that can be looked up in a book or Googled.

The exam will be 45 minutes long with an additional 5 minutes for uploading answers. Plan to get on the system at 12:30 so you have time to sign in and be read to access the question at 1:00.

You will be able to use any internet connected device such as a phone, tablet or computer to access the test and upload your answer. You will be able to type your answer and upload it, or write it out on paper, photograph it and upload the photo.

NGHS will be lending Chromebooks to students who need them starting on April 13 (the first day after Spring Break) keep checking your e-mail and the NGHS website for details about how to pick one up. AP students will have priority to receive an NGHS Chromebook.

There are review videos made by the an AP Psych teacher at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoGgviqq4844U91iotDP7n7brR_ovoSFB Start with "1.1 Introducing Psychology" and work your way through the videos. Everything from 8.1 on is about psych disorders, which won't be on the AP exam.

The test will only cover up (and including) to chapter 14, so if you're caught up, you're in great shape.

Topics:

Scientific Foundations of Psychology (Ch. 1 and 2)
Biological Basis of Behavior (Ch. 3)
Sensation and Perception (Ch. 4 and 5)
Learning (Ch. 6)
Cognitive Psychology (Ch 7, 8, and 10)
Developmental Psychology (Ch. 12)
Motivation, Emotion and Personality (Ch. 11 and 14)

The test won't cover psych disorders, treatment of disorders or social psychology which are really interesting topics that I urge you to explore.

All assignments on the assignment sheet after Ch. 14 are cancelled.

Please finish Ch. 14 and send me your notes and Flashcards via e-mail or remind and begin reviewing. I suggest using our blog from the beginning of the year and watching the videos for each chapter while reviewing your notes and flashcards. I will give you access to some practice tests you can do online as well. Those of you who purchased or checked out an AP Review Book such as "5 Steps to a 5" should work your way through the book using the practice tests to guide your study.

Thanks for all your hard work this year. It seems unlikely that we will return to school before the end of the year, but we won't know that for sure for a while.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns relating to the class, or to college or to the Coronavirus situation.
